She is a part of many of the most prominent bands in the San Francisco Bay Area, including her own band, Kristen Strom Quintet. Many well-known performers have performed with her, including Roberta Flack and Johnny Mathis, Jimmy Heath and Steve Turre, Kevin Mahogany and Michel LeGrand, The San Jose Symphony, The Temptations, Natalie Cole and The Four Tops. She has released solo albums “Intention” and “Sojourn”, as well as more than 30 CDs together with various jazz and pop artists including Crossing Borders, John Worley, Worlview and Ed Johnson, Wally Schnalle and Gail Dobson, and international jazz group Crossing Borders. She has performed with the Nuclear Whales, other artists, and across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Kristen is a saxophone, jazz combo and instructor at Santa Clara University. She is also on the faculty of Stanford Jazz Workshop and the Director of South Bay summer Jazz intensive. Kristen holds a B.A. San Jose State University offers a B.A. in Music. She also has graduate studies in music education. Kristen studied woodwinds and saxophone with Joe Henderson, Mel Martin, and Victor Morosco.
