Laco Deczi

Laco Deczi, a trumpet player, composer, and leader of a band, was born in Bernolakovo, Slovakia, in 1938. He was a member Karel Velebny’s SHQ in the 1960’s. He recorded “Sentimental Trumpet”, his solo album, with strings in 1970. He was a soloist on Vaclav Zahradnik’s big band recording, “Jazz Goes To Beat”. He founded his Jazz Celula group at the end 1967 and was a member since 1970 of the Czech Radio Jazz Orchestra. He recorded some duo recordings together with Sarka Dvorak, the guitarist, and composed music for TV and film productions. He has been living in the United States since 1985, where he is a leader for “Jazz Cellula International”.
