Larry Newcomb

Dr. Larry Newcomb received his Ph.D. and Masters degrees in music from the University of Florida in 1998. He is the creator and director of the Newcomb Guitar School at Our Lady of Pompeii School, New York. Newcomb is an Artist Endorser of Planet Waves and D’Addario. Larry studied with Bucky Pizzarelli, the legendary guitarist. He also studied with Howard Roberts and Mark Elf. Bruce Holtzmann, Florida State University’s classical guitarist instructor, guided Newcomb. He also studied composition with Dr. Budd Udell, University of Florida. Larry has completed the Jazz Improvisation Course with Bob Mover and Gary Burton’s Introduction To Jazz Improvisation. Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino and Jim Hall are musical influences. B. King and Freddie King. Dr. Newcomb was the lead guitarist for hitmakers such as Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits), Leslie Gore and Lou Christie. He also played in the touring bands of Tommy Cash, Darlene Austin and Tom Grant. Larry currently performs classic and original electric and anacoustic guitar music in solo, duo and trio configurations in New York Tri-State Areas, Florida, and The Netherlands. Newcomb has performed with Billy Kaye and Brian Charette, Dmitri Kolenik, Eric Olsen. Iridium, Kitano and Garage are some of the venues where Newcomb has performed.
