She is a popular mainstream pianist who has won praise from jazz hosts, jazz lovers and critics alike. She was influenced by Bill Evans, Bud Powell, Oscar Peterson and Bud Powell. Lenore Raphael is an internationally recognized jazz pianist, Steinway artist and radio host. She has also been praised as one of today’s best jazz teachers. She has sold out many major jazz venues and festivals, including Jazz At Lincoln Center (3x), The Blue Note (NYC), Birdland(NYC), The London Jazz Festival and the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival. At the Joy Of Jazz festival, Johannesburg, South Africa, she was among three internationally-respected Steinway pianists, including Ahmad Jamal, Abdullah Ibraham and others. Lenore performed in front of sold-out audiences at The Broward Centre for the Arts Amaturo theater, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in April 2014. She has toured Europe, Israel, and England. She did a major South African tour in 2016 and is often invited back to the venues where she performs. Lenore was honored to perform at the tribute of Oscar Peterson in Toronto (Canada) where she performed her well-known composition. “Blues For O.P.” Lenore has received ASCAP awards for original compositions that appear on her CDs as well as other artists’. They were played on the Continental Airlines in-flight jazz stream and on international jazz stations, including inclusion in the Jazz At Lincoln Center jazz stream. Lenore has released 10 highly acclaimed CDS under the Swingin’ Fox Music label. Some of her recordings reached the Top 10 and “Invitation”, her 2006 recording, and “Loverly”, her 2012 recording, were nominated for Grammys. Lenore has her own radio station, “Lenore Raphael’s JazzSpot”, on purejazzradio. She interviews and performs alongside jazz legends and newcomers. She has recorded and performed with many greats, including Clark Terry, Warren Vache and Howard Alden, Bucky Pizzarelli and Jack Wilkins. She is also a skilled jazz teacher, having taught Jazz Master Classes at colleges and universities around the world. She was also the director of Montclair University’s summer jazz workshop and the East Tennessee State University’s summer jazz camp.
