Many people overlook the significant influence Les Paul had on jazz music today. Before his focus was on recording pop-oriented hits, Paul made his mark as a jazz guitarist who had his music played on radio stations from coast to coast. This exposure guaranteed him a large audience of young musicians. Paul was heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt initially, but he eventually developed a fluid, hard-swinging style that was reminiscent of Reinhardt. It featured fast runs, single notes fluttered, repeated single notes and rhythm support.
