Linley Hamilton

Linley has been part of the Irish music scene since over twenty years. He has worked as a trumpet player, a BBC Jazz Broadcaster, and a Lecturer for Music at Ulster University Magee. While there have been many career highlights, including recordings or performances with Paul Brady, Foy Vance and Eleanor McEvoy as well as with Foy Vance and Jacqui Dankworth, ASIWYFA and Paul Brady, Linley is still working hard and has recently released ‘In Transition’ as well as ‘Taylor Made. His quintet includes Johnny Taylor piano and Damien Evans bass as well as Julien Colarossi guitarist and Dominic Mullen drums. You can purchase the album on iTunes, Amazon and at www.lyterecords.com. In the last five years, Linley Hamilton has made a concerted effort in Jazz. He graduated from DIT Dublin with an 1st-class Masters in Jazz Performance, as well as the prestigious Student Academic Medal. Then, he went on to earn a PhD at Ulster University Magee in Jazz Performance. The Radio Show continues to be strong, and now airs on Friday nights at 10pm on BBC Radio Ulster…the program called Jazzworld with Linley Hamilton. Weekly interviews are held and guests include Vince Mendoza and John Goldsby. Linley has been featured on several albums over the last year, including Ex Magician’s Malibu Shark Attack, ASIWYFA, Ronnie Greer and Anthony Toner.
