Lisanne Tremblay, a violinist and composer who is truly unique, is Lisanne. Her unique approach to melody, rhythm, and improvising is remarkable. Her music also has an uncommon level of energy and intensity. Lisanne is the very first violinist to earn a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance at McGill University. She also studied with Joe Lovano and Ari Hoenig, and continued her education through workshops at the Havana Superior Institute of Arts in Cuba. She has been a regular performer on Montreal’s vibrant jazz scene, as well as in the city’s OFF Jazz Festival or the International Jazz Festival. Danilo Perez, Greg Osby and Rafael Zaldivar have shared the stage with her. She was a finalist at the Jazz en Rafale contest in 2010. This led to the formation of her current quartet. Lisanne’s debut album is Violinization. It was funded by Canada Council for the Arts. The album appears on Inner Circle Music. This label represents an unusual combination of artists from the international creative scene. from www.lisannetremblay.com
