Lorraine Baker, originally from Kent, started playing the drums at twelve years old. She graduated Trinity Laban in 2009 with First Class Honours. While continuing to work with Simon Purcell and Julian Siegel, she was invited to teach at the Mediterranean Summer School. Lorraine was invited to perform in a workshop by Jeff Williams, an international drummer. He said that her “unique style” makes her stand out and she “doesn’t sound like anyone else.” Lorraine also recorded for BBC Radio One’s Live Lounge and BBC Radio Four. Lorraine performed with Christine Tobin, an accomplished singer, and her band, Gilad Altzmon. Christine’s newest album “Pelt” features her. Her career highlight was performing the Don Cherry tune “Guinea”, with Dave Holland, an international bassist. She was inspired by this collaboration to create her current quartet, which pays tribute to Ed Blackwell’s music. Lorraine’s debut album “Eden” features Mentor Liam Noble. After building a strong following through crowdfunding site Kickstarter Lorraine was awarded funding by Jazz Services to produce this album. The band will launch the album with a tour in the UK. from https://lorrainebaker.co.uk
