Ebullient left-field pop from a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist known as one-half of Knower and for work with Seal and Thundercat. Louis Cole, a left-field pop musician whose energetic material often puts a positive spin on everyday pitfalls is one half of Knower. He’s also a frequent collaborator in the studio and a solo artist. His releases include Time (2018) on Brainfeeder. After graduating from the USC Thornton School of Music, Jack Conte (Pomplamoose), encouraged him to start releasing music online. He released his self-titled solo album in 2010 and Genevieve Artadi, his partner, also released their first full-length record as Knower. Over the years, he released numerous self-released solo recordings and duo albums, as well as many videos. Cole co-wrote the song “Padded Cell”, which Seal released in 2015. Artadi and Cole were both featured on Snarky Pup’s Family Dinner Vol. 2. Cole had a particularly busy 2017 with a pair of cowriting credits on Thundercat’s Dunk (“Bus in These Streets,” Jamel’s Space Ride”) and Artadi’s placement of “Dance of Doom” on The Lego Ninjago Movie’s soundtrack. He also opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers fans at gigs. Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label released Time, Cole’s third solo record. It was recorded over two-and-a half years and featured performances by Thundercat and Artadi, as well keyboardist Dennis Hamm, and pianist Brad Mehldau. Allmusic
