Maggie Nicols

Maggie Nicols was a free improvisation singer who joined London’s Spontaneous music Ensemble in 1968. After that, she was involved in voice workshops and local experimental theatre. Later, she joined the Centipede group, which was led by Keith Tippets, and, in 1977, she formed the Feminist Improvising Group with Lindsay Cooper (composer/musician). She continues to perform and record challenging and beautiful music in theatre and music, both in collaborations with a variety of artists (Irene Schweitzer and Joelle Leandre), Ken Hyder, Caroline Kraabel, and solo.
