Marco Cappelli

Marco Cappelli, who has completed many years of rigorous music studies (first at Conservatorio di S. Cecilia Rome and then at the Konzert-Klasse in Basel at the Musik Akademie, Salzburg Festival, Ruhr Triennale…), has led an extraordinary artistic career. He is proficient in both written music and free improvisation. Marco’s diverse performances are due to an amazing array of collaborations (Anthony Coleman and Michel Godard, Butch Morris and Jim Pugliese), and also because of his involvement in numerous music festivals (Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Festival Traiettorie di Parma, Cinque passi nul ‘900 al Teatro Lirico di Cagliari), Guggenheim Museum, New York, Italian Academy, Columbia University, Salzburg Festival and Ruhr Triennale and Tonic in New York and OutPut Festival in Amsterdam ______ in New York and as both in the OutPut Festival in Amsterdam HTML2_ in New York and as a single or in the OutPut Festival in Amsterdam Marco Cappelli is one of the founding members of the internationally acclaimed Italian contemporary music band “Ensemble Dissonanzen”. He currently resides in New York and is active in the avantgarde and contemporary music scene. He is the Guitar Professor at Palermo’s Conservatory Vincenzo Bellini and a Music Associate at Columbia University. He has also been Sharon Isbin’s assistant in the Aspen Music Festival u0026 School ’06 (Colorado) and guest professor at Julliard School (New York), Cal Poly Pomona, Los Angeles (2003,2005,2006), University of Guadalajara, Mexico (2004, 2007). Marco has recorded three solo guitar CDs: “Fantasia per Ensemble”, and “Yun Mu” for the Italian label TDS and EGP for the American label Mode Records. Mode Records also released two cds from Ensemble Dissonanzen. Cappelli is also involved in G. Petrassi’s and H.W. Henze’schamber Music. Marco Cappelli published “Los Angeles Tapes”, a collection of recordings with Andrea Centazzo, Kato Hideki, and signed his debut album on John Zorn’s Tzadik. He also performed in duo on the CD “Pushy Blueness”, by Anthony Coleman. Itinera, an Italian jazz label, released Marco Cappelli’s first CD in 2008. from www.marcocappelli.com
