Marco Minnemann

Marco began playing organ at age 6. He then switched to drums and guitar when he was 11. Marco is 19 years old when he becomes famous for his extraordinary talent as a drummer and composer. In 1992, the first “crossover” band Freaky Fkin’ Weirdoz offered him a job as drummer. This was in conjunction with a major contract with BMG-Ariola. The Weirdoz were the pioneers of crossover music. After a gig on “Mao Mak Maa”, the Weirdoz created a cover version of Ian Dury’s “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick”, which was then recorded by Nina Hagen. Marco was then booked to perform on a Nina Hagen tour. Marco’s reputation for being a great drummer is growing worldwide. His solo workshops at the Frankfurt Music Fair and PASIC in Dallas are two of his most prominent performances. He also performed solo at the Modern Drummer Festival, Toronto, where Marco is the first German drummer to showcase his skills. His performance was a huge success in the eyes and magazines of music trade. Marco’s own band, Illegal Aliens, has released four albums following Drumfest. Since then, Marco has released 14 solo albums: “The Green Mindbomb” and “Comfortably Homeless”, “Orchids”, “Broken Orange”, “Mieze”, “Contraire de la Chanson”,”HWDATK”, “A Mouth of God”, “Normalizer 2”, “Catspoon”, “Evil Smiles of Beauty/Sound of Crime” and “Symbolic Fox”, “EEPS” and “Celebration”, which are more on par with his talents as a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. Mario Brinkmann, the sound designer, released “Motor”, ‘Normalizer 1’’, “Disarmed”, and “Shining”. Marco co-produces Paddy Kelly’s solo album and plays the instruments. He also plays on the double platinum-selling CD “Nena feat Nena”. Marco has recorded and performed with Eddie Jobson and Steven Wilson, Trey Gunn and Kreator, Necrophagist and Adrian Belew. He also performs and records alongside Paddy Kelly and Udo Lindenberg. Rick Gratton and Marco’s work as educational book authors has produced two books, including the award-winning “Extreme Interdependence”, which was voted #1 in many magazines. Marco also awarded him a Telly Award for his DVD “Extreme Drumming”, which won the polls. In 2006, he joined Terry Bozzio as a drummer on a tour with Chad Wackerman. Marco played in the death metal band Necrophagist. Marco appears on the title page in Modern Drummer Magazine, June/July 2007, and the Brazilian MD August issue of 2012. He lends his voice in August 2008 to the Metalocalypse Episode “Snakes and Barrels”. “Normalizer 2” is released in 2012. It features Mike Keneally and Trey Gunn as well as Alex Machacek, Mario Brinkmann and John Czajkowski writing their own versions of a 51-minute drum solo. Marco tours in 2009 with Kreator, a metal band. Marco is on tour in 2011/12 with Eddie Jobson, the UK’s rock band, Steven Wilson, and his own trio The Aristocrats, featuring Guthrie Govan and Bryan Beller. Their debut album was released in 2011. The Aristocrats DVD “Boing!” The DVD “Boing!” by the Aristocrats and the Steven Wilson DVD/BluRay “Get All You Desire” were released in Fall 2012. Steve Wilson also released “The Raven That Refused To Sing” in 2013. Marco is involved in the LMR (Levin MinnemannRudess) project as a writer and drummer, guitarist player, and vocalist. The debut album, which was released Sept. 2013, remained at #1 for two months in three categories on Amazon.com. It also made it into many Top 5 lists. Marco’s album, “EEPS”, is out in 2014. The Aristocrats will release their second album, “Culture Clash”, followed by “Culture Clash Live”, a DVD that was shot in seven cities around the globe. Marco is featured on Steven Wilson’s album “Hand.Cannot.Erase”, which was released in February 2015. It was followed by a tour. Marco’s album, “Celebration”, is released that year in June. He records Joe Satriani’s album Shockwave Supernova. It hits the markets in the summer. This season also features the third Aristocrats album “Tres Caballeros”, and another Marco Solo album called “Schattenspiel”. A world tour of 2015/2016 follows both Joe Satriani and Aristocrats releases. Marco released the double-disc concept package BORREGO in 2017. It can be used as a soundtrack for an imaginary movie about Anza Borrego’s hauntingly beautiful desert. BORREGO also features JOE SATRIANI on bass and vocals, and ALEX LIFESON (guitar) from the band RUSH. Marco, Mohini Dey (bass and vocals) and Rhythm Shaw (guitar and vocals) perform a trio tour of India by the end 2017. They play material from their respective calalogues. After their 2018 debut at Loreley fest, the recording and writing sessions for THE SEA WITHIN began. Marco and Mohini Dey perform a two-day sold out special with PLINI, an Australian guitarist. They play a selection of their music. There will be multiple tours and releases in 2019. The MAHANDI album features Dewa Budjana and Mohini Dey as well as John Frusciante (Marco Minnemann), Jordan Rudess (John Rudess), John Frusciante (Marco Minnemann), Mike Stern, and John Frusciante (Marco Minnemann). The third MUTE GODS album titled Atheists u0026 Believers’, JORDAN RODESS titled Wired For Madness’, and a special 12″ picture vinyl record by MARCO MINNEMANN u0026 ALEX LIFESON titled ’Lovers Calling’ are other releases this year. Marco performs back-to-back with the YES annual lead event ‘Cruise To The Edge’ with three different bands: THE SEA Within, In CONTINUUM, and STEVE HACKETT. The ARISTOCRATS will release their fourth album, ‘You know what…??’ in 2019. Marco’s 2-CD set, ‘MY SISTER, will also be available by the end.
