Marcus Belgrave

Marcus Belgrave, a jazz trumpeter from Detroit, was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, on June 12, 1936. Since the 1950s, he has recorded with many famous musicians, bandleaders and record labels. Ray Charles, Charles Mingus and Gunther Schuller are just a few of the many notables. He has performed with Ray Charles and Max Roach as well as Ella Fitzgerald, Charles Mingus Jr., Tony Bennett, Dizzy Gillespie, John Sinclair, Sammy Davis Jr., Charles Mingus, Charles Mingus, Charles Mingus, Ray Charles, Max Roach, Ella Fitzgerald and Charles Mingus. Belgrave is known for his ability to nurture young jazz talent. Rodney Whitaker and Kenny Garrett are just a few examples. Belgrave, a popular instructor and clinician, is a regular faculty member at Stanford Jazz Workshop. He is also currently visiting professor of jazz trumpet in the Oberlin Conservatory. He spent one week at the Young Musicians Program (YMP), a summer program that took place in University of California Berkeley, helping students with coaching and private lessons.
