Marcus Strickland, a jazz soprano, alto, and tenor saxophonist, was born in Gainesville in Florida in 1979. He currently resides in New York. Marcus was named by Downbeat Magazine’s Critic’s Poll ‘Rising star on Tenor Saxophone in 10 and a ‘Rising star on Soprano Saxophone in â08’. JazzTimes Magazine’s Reader’s Poll voted him ‘Best new Artist’ in â06. He placed third in 2002 Thelonious monk International Jazz Saxophone Contest.
