Mark Harvey, Ph.D. Senior Lecturer in music, Boston University is a trumpeter and composer. He also founded the Aardvark jazz orchestra as music director. The Meet the Composer/Lila Wallace -Reader’s Digest Commissioning Program and the Organization of American Kodaly Educators are some examples of commissions. Among the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble’s commissions have been compositions by Joe Lovano, Steve Turre, and others. Harvey has performed with Aardvark, Jay Clayton, Jay Clayton and other jazz legends Geri Allen and Steven Bernstein, Jay Clayton and Gil Evans.
