Marnix Busstra is a guitarist, composer, and director who loves to cross borders. He enjoys traveling the world with his jazz band, playing both guitar and bouzouki. He also writes jazz and theatre-songs. His wife Karin Bloemen, a Dutch diva, co-creates theatre shows and directs them. Music influences His musical influences are as diverse as his artistic talents. Marnix studied jazz guitar in Amsterdam Conservatory. He also explored classical Indian music and 20th-century western music. He is also skilled at translating lyrics into music. He plays a variety of instruments to reflect his background. Marnix also uses an electric guitar and an electric sitar, as well as an Irish bouzouki. He composed many compositions in a variety of musical styles. Mike Mainieri, a well-known vibraphonist, loves to play his jazz music. Dianne Reeves, a vocalist, sang his music. The Annie M.G. award was won for the classic Dutch song “Geen type meer”. Schmidt award for the best theatre composition. Marnix is currently the leader of the Marnix Busstra Band as well as the Old School Band. He also co-leads Mike Mainieri/Marnix Busstra Quartet.
