Marty Paich

Martin Louis Paich, born January 23, 1925, Oakland, California; died August 12, 1995, Santa Ynez (California). He was a pianist and composer, arranger. His career spanned over half a century and included work for artists such as Frank Sinatra (Barbra Streisand), Sarah Vaughan. Stan Kenton. Ella Fitzgerald. Mel Torme. Ray Charles. Aretha Franklin. Stan Getz. Sammy Davis Jr. Michael Jackson. Art Pepper. His name is not known outside of professional circles. He was not interested in self-promotion and never had a personal agent. His business affairs were managed by Huddy, his first wife. After a few years, he moved to Los Angeles to start a ranch in Santa Ynez Valley, north of Santa Barbara. He was able to fulfill his twin dreams of riding horses and running a private museum that focuses on the saddles, books and guns of the American West.
