Matt Wilson, a Grammy nominee and New York-based drummer, is one of the most renowned jazz musicians today. His musical and melodic drumming skills are well-known. He also has a reputation as a talented composer, bandleader and producer. Matt is a constant draw because of his positive energy, sense humor and ability to navigate a wide range of musical settings. Wilson’s passion for jazz has made him a world-famous ambassador for jazz, both on and off the stage. Matt was part of an all-star group of jazz musicians performing at the White House for President Obama’s State Dinner concert. Dee Dee Bridgewater and Dianne Reeves were among the other performers. Matt was appointed artist-in-residence at the Litchfield Jazz Festival, where he conducted a highly publicized interview with Dave Brubeck. Wilson led over 250 outreach programs to promote jazz in 2010, including a highly-acclaimed Jazz for Young Peoples concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Wilson is the leader of the Matt Wilson Quartet and Arts and Crafts. He also leads the Christmas Tree-O and Carl Sandburg Project.
