Maúcha Adnet

Maucha Adnet was born in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. She began her singing career as a professional singer at the age 15 when she joined Ceu da Boca, a Brazilian vocal group. Two albums were released by Polygram by Ceu da Boca between 1978 and 1984. From 1984 to 1994 Maucha performed, recorded, and toured with the legendary composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, and his band Banda Nova. The recordings included four CDs, ‘Passarim’ (Polygram, Verve,1987), ‘Antonio Brasileiro’ Grammy Winner (Sony Music,1995), ‘Tom Jobim Inedito’ (BMG- Ariola,1995) and ‘Rio Revisited’ Antonio Carlos Jobim and Gal Costa (Polygram,Verve,1987). Maucha performed with Jobim in Brazil, the United States, Japan and Israel. She also performed at Jazz Festivals such as Hollywood Ball (LA), Bill Graham Wiltern Theatre, LA, and Carnegie Hall (NY). Maucha has recorded with Dorival Caymmi and Chico Buarque as well as Toninho Horta and Toninho Veloso. Her guest vocals were featured on Randy Brecker’s Grammy Winner CD ‘Into The Sun’. Maucha, who has lived in New York for many decades, has been performing regularly with her own band. She has also performed with Trio da Paz and Oscar Castro Neves. She was most recently the guest vocalist at Alice Tully Hall (NY) with Wynton Marsalis, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and Cyro Baptista. Maucha released a solo CD, “Songs I Learned from Jobim”, in Japan (Venus Records).
