He already took clarinet and piano lessons, and was a member of the local brass band during his childhood. He studied piano at the Bruckner Conservatory of Linz after leaving school. The Conservatory of Vienna offered saxophone lessons. There were also studies in musical movement education at Vienna’s Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. The saxophonist, who has been involved in numerous formations and band combinations since 1980, has earned a great reputation outside of Austria. This multifaceted, versatile musician has toured Europe, North Africa, Taiwan, and the USA. Max Nagl doesn’t believe in sticking to jazz standards.
