MICHAEL COCHRANE is a pianist, composer and arranger who has lived in the tri-state region since 1974. Sonny Forturne and Jack Walrath were his musical and/or recording partners. He has performed at colleges, clubs, and concert halls such as The Village Vanguard and Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola. His international touring experience includes many European countries, as well as Canada and Japan, Puerto Rico. Greece, Russia. The Philippines, and the Caribbean. He received his Master of Arts degree in Music and Music Education from New York University in 1985. Part-time, he has taught at Rutgers University and the Bloomingdale School of Music, Princeton University, Rutgers University and JCC Thurnauer School of Music. His teachers include Jaki Byard and Ray Santisi. As a leader, Mr. Cochrane has released over ten CDs. He is the author of several books on piano music and instruction, which are published by Second Floor Music (distributed to Hal Leonard, SteepleChase and Charles Colin) and his own publishing company, Inner Search Music.
