Mj12

Percy Jones, Brand X’s legendary bass player, will release MJ12’s eagerly awaited debut album via Gonzo Multimedia UK, June 24, 2016. MJ12, recorded at Shelter Island studios in Manhattan in the summer 2015, is jazz/fusion/prog at its best. This album features virtuosic performances from all four members of the band, and is in many ways an extension to what Percy Jones created for Brand X.
Percy says, “We took our name from Majestik 12, which was supposedly an 11-member group of engineers and scientists who met in late 40’s to study UFO’s. It is still a matter of debate whether or not this group existed. Stephen Moses and me had been hosting gigs where guests could join us. This was M&J +1 or 2. We started to use Chris Bacas and David Phelps more often if they were available. We started to write stuff but kept a lot of the improv going in order to keep it spontaneous. It was a mix of bits and pieces from everyone that came together to make a cohesive tune. However, there was a lot of blowing in the background. We felt it was ready to record by last Summer, so we recorded it in 2 days.
