Naked City was a New York avant-rock/free-jazz supergroup that existed in the late 80s and early 1990s. It featured an all-star lineup of New York jazz experimentalists led by John Zorn, the most famous downtown musician. Zorn played the alto sax and Wayne Horvitz played keyboards. Fred Frith was on guitar and Fred Frith was on bass. Joey Baron, who occasionally sang Yamatsuka eye, played drums. It had a huge repertoire and was known for being unpredictable. Zorn claims that the band was conceived as a compositional workshop. The challenge was to create as much music as possible in the small space. It disbanded when Zorn stopped writing and listening to the band. Allmusic
