Lorenzo Feliciati is the founder of Naked Truth. He has been a leading figure and collaborator in Europe since 2005. Feliciati said that Naked Truth was born from Feliciati’s desire to create a band in which “each voice” is heard and contributes to the musical conversation. No instrument should dominate the melody or solos. Each composition is built around a riff or sonic theme, and the players respond with their own improvised layers. Naked Truth is the sole author of all songwriting. Feliciati has assembled an impressive team for this project. Strong pan-genre credentials are a strong asset to the group. Roy Powell, the keyboard player, has the most jazz-centric and straightforward credentials of all. Feliciati makes an interesting choice to include trumpeter Cuong Vu, which may be a staking of ground considering his association with forward-thinking artists like Dave Douglas and Myra Melford over the years. While Pat Mastelotto was first a mainstream success with Mr. Mister in the 1980s, he is most well-known for his long association to King Crimson and its related artists. Mastelotto can deliver great power and explosiveness, but also provide spicy accompaniment, as the title track shows. from http://www.allaboutjazz.com
