Nanami Morikawa is a Japanese singer who has been recognized as one of Japan’s top emerging jazz vocalists. She won the Asakusa Jazz Competition’s Grand-Prix in Tokyo (2008) and has performed at major Japanese jazz festivals. Her popularity with jazz fans is high. She regularly appears at major jazz clubs in Osaka, Kobe and other places. Ms. Morikawa is a multifaceted musician with a strong foundation to support her vocal artistry. She holds a degree from Kobe Yamate University in Music Composition, and has studied both jazz piano and violin since age three. Nanami Morikawa just released Open Spaces, her first CD. Open Spaces features Phillip Strange (jazz pianist), Larry Marshall (drums) and Tetsuro Aramatama (bass).
