Nate Radley

Nate Radley, a Brooklyn-based guitarist/composer, is a leader of his own band, can be heard in a variety collaborative projects and plays as a sideman with many bands in New York and around the globe. The Fresh Sound/New Talent label released Nate’s first album “The Big Eyes”, his first as a leader. The album includes nine original compositions by Nate, Loren Stillman, Pete Rende, Matt Pavolka, Ted Poor, and Pete Rende, all performed by Nate on guitar. Nate is also a leader of his own band and performs regularly with “Bad Touch”, a collaborative band that includes Ted Poor and Loren Stillman, as well as Gary Versace (organ). The band recorded one cd, “Like a Magic Kiss”, and another “Winter Fruits”, under the Loren Stillman Quartet name. The band has toured Europe together in 2011 and the U.S. again in 2009. Nate is a sideman for many groups and has recorded over 20 CDs since he moved to New York in 2004. Nate has recorded and performed with the Alan Ferber Nonet, Large Ensemble, Marc Mommaas “Landmarc”, Akiko Pavolka’s House of Illusion and the Andrew Rathbun group. Nate has also performed with Tony Moreno and John McNeil as well as Tony Moreno and John McNeil. Nate is also a regular performer with North Forty and Hope Debates. Nate has recorded on labels like Sunnyside, Steeplechase Artistshare Pirouette and Tone of a Pitch. He has performed all over the U.S., Canada and Europe, as well as at jazz festivals like the North Sea Jazz Festival and Montreal Jazz Festival. Nate received his Master’s degree in Music from New England Conservatory, Boston, MA. He also studied composition and jazz guitar. He was a student of John Abercrombie and Bob Brookmeyer as well as Jerry Bergonzi and George Russell. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Chicago. Nate has more than ten years of teaching experience. He currently teaches jazz guitar, music theory and jazz ensembles at Queens College’s Center for Preparatory Studies in Music.
