Neo

Neo is an Italian avant-punk jazz band that was formed in 2005. Neo is composed of drummer Antonio Zitarelli and tenor saxophonist Carlo Conti. However, they make a lot noise. The bass-less trio combines high energy, punk angularity, and highly improvised music. They are influenced by Zorn’s Spy vs Spy. Their second album, Water Resistance, was released in 2009. It contains 15 short compositions (or “jazz-punk”) that are largely atonal but perfectly structured, improvisational, and composed both. The band’s third album was recorded in Steve Albini’s Electrical Studio in Chicago during their stop. It was released in 2011.
