New York Jazz Quartet/new York Jazz Ensemble/new York Quartet

The band has many similar names. The most well-known is The New York Jazz Quartet. Sometimes Ensemble is used instead of Quartet to describe the group. The band’s generic name is a result of which the names of all four members are prominently displayed on the front sleeve. Joe Puma plays the guitar, Joe Mann is the flutist and Mat Mathews the accordionist. Whitey Mitchell plays the double basses. Manuel Ramos, Teiji Ito and Whitey Mitchell also play the drums.
