Nick Vayenas

Since 1995, Nick Vayenas, a trombonist, has been a staple of the music scene. Nick, a New York City-based trombonist, has been a leader and sideman in many settings. He is a versatile musician, doubling on trumpet or valve trombone. He is also an educator and clinician, as well as a prolific composer. Vayenas, originally from Boston started music studies at the age of 12. Vayenas was born in Boston and began his music studies at age 12. He received scholarships to Berklee College of Music (now Manhattan School of Music), Thelonious Monk Institute and Berklee College of Music. These were crucial to his musical and compositional development. Vayenas studied jazz legends such as Conrad Herwig and Bill Watrous, Phil Wilson and Phil Wilson, as well as Terence Blanchard and Greg Hopkins as well as the trumpeter Vince Penzarella. Nick is also a highly sought-after teacher and clinician. He has presented workshops all over the world for Conn/Selmer musical instrument. Vayenas, who was a rising star in his own right, released his critically acclaimed debut album, Synesthesia on Kendrick Scott’s World Culture Music label.
