No Base Trio

No Base Trio is an amalgamation of Jonathan Suazo (alto saxophonist), Gabriel Vicens (guitarist) and Leonardo Osuna (drummer). It was formed in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2010. NBT is committed to creating music that transcends boundaries and constantly pushing the limits of sound and improvisation. They started by playing straight-ahead jazz standards at concerts on the island. Sometimes, they would play an improvised piece as a break in the set. They realized the energy they would create when they improvised together and decided to keep the group as a fully improvised trio, playing at local venues like El Taberna Lupulo. Although each member has a background of formal music education, the trio embraces raw elements of sound and energy. The collective is a key part of music’s continual evolution. It allows musicians to find new expressions with wisdom, creativity, passion. From
