The Nu Band is a dynamic, vibrant group of professionals. They all lead multiple groups, record with many world-class musicians, compose, and play and record with other top-notch musicians. Lou Grassi and Roy Campbell founded the Nu Band in 1999. The band was democratically managed and co-operated with the same personnel for fourteen years. We needed to replace Roy Campbell, our dear colleague, after Roy’s untimely passing in January 2014. We were fortunate to have Thomas Heberer, trumpet master, available. The tour was a huge success. We’ve now recorded the band for The Cosmological Constant (In Memoriam of Roy Campbell, Jr.), which will be released on Not Two Records in April 2015. The Nu Band performed at The Knitting Factory and The Vision Club Series, The Music Now Festival, and The Vision Festival in NYC; The Bop Shop and Rochester, NY; The Chicago Cultural Center and Hallwalls Contemporary Center for the Arts. Buffalo, NY; The Detroit Art Space and The University of Pittsburgh. The Nu Band has toured Europe in January 2005 and October 2007, January 2009 and March 2012, dazzling audiences in France and Italy.
