Nubya Garcia

Nubya Garcia (24 years old) is a saxophonist who recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She studied the Jazz course with Jean Toussaint and Julian Siegal and Simon Purcell. London-born and raised, she started playing with the Camden Music Service before moving on to the Royal Academy Junior Jazz program. On a scholarship, she attended the Berklee Boston five-week summer school. It was an exciting opportunity and a great experience. Nubya was a Tomorrows Warriors Development participant and a member the Tomorrows Youth Orchestra. She has also performed with the Nu Civilisation Orchestra (Southbank Centre). Some of Nubya’s current projects are Nerija and the Theon Cross Trio. Maisha, SE Dub Collective, and the Nubya Garcia/Sheila Maurice Grey Quartet. Nubya was last year seen supporting Christian Scott in London with the Theon Cross Trio at the EFG London Jazz Festival. She has recently performed with Sister Sledge at the Women of the World Festival 2016.
