In December 2010, Don Van Vliet, the avant-rock legend, died. Ego Ergo Aggro, an improvising quartet, decided to pay a tribute to him at the Click Clack club in Edinburgh. We had so much fun with the audience that we decided to expand our repertoire and create Orange Claw Hammer. Although not a “tribute group”, as there are no vocals, most songs from Captain’s albums can be interpreted as instrumentals. There is plenty of room for improvisation. Beefheart fans will not be disappointed!
