After the Dixie Jass Band split up, Johnny Stein organized this band and it became the Original Dixieland Jass Band. It’s interesting to see that Achille Bquet was African-American but passed for White. He played in mainly White bands in New Orleans including Papa Jack Laine’s Relince Orchestra. His brother George Baquet was part of the Original Creole Orchestra as well as Jelly Roll Morton’s Red Hot Peppers. The New Orleans Jazz Band and Jimmy Durante’s Jazz Band were also used by the band.
