Paulo Dias Duarte, a Portuguese composer, has created the OverGround Collective. It is an 18-piece band. Paulo has spent a lot of time researching improvisation and how it relates to pre-composed material. This project was born. Paulo spent time shadowing many London improvisers and has now assembled a group with their very distinct improvisational languages. This project uses their various approaches to improvisation as compositional tools. It creates a musical landscape that is very diverse, where the improviser is an integral part of it. Bandcamp
