The quartet’s first album, Paisean, was recorded by Ed Jones (saxophonist) and Steve Plews (pianist). Plews’ compositional abilities are evident. He uses the jazz quartet format, but as a composer of jazz and classical music, he combines the two styles using samples. His ambient soundscapes are dark and eerie and are illuminated by Ed’s high-pitched saxophone notes. Both Steve Plews, and Ed Jones, were both educated at Middlesex University in 1980’s. They have been musical friends since then. Although Steve was trained as a classical pianist, jazz has influenced his playing since childhood. His music is influenced by both his classical and jazz knowledge. Steve has contributed to three compilations of Contemporary British Music and four CDs that were well received. Ed Jones has performed with a wide range of pop and jazz music stars, including George Benson and Horace Silver. He also played with Tina Turner, Tina Turner, Omar, Aswad and Herbie Hancock. He has also been a regular member of jazz crossover projects like Incognito and US3. Amazon.uk
