PALO! The group was awarded the Miami New Times’ BEST Band 2012 Readers’ Choice Award and is a favourite among South Florida’s live-music lovers. They play a unique style of danceable music they call “Afro-Cuban Funk”. Their unique musical energy, catchy songs and incredible display of impromptu virtuosity are what make them so appealing. PALO is a mix of Urban and Latin sounds. Their unique and infectious style.
PALO! In 2003, Steve Roitstein invited Leslie Cartaya (vocals), Philbert Arenteros (vocals and percussion), Ed Calle(sax), Raymer Olalde (“vocals,percussion”) to join him in an improvised musical experiment that combined Cuban music with funk beats. PALO! PALO! Soon, they began performing at other venues in the area. PALO! PALO!

PALO! PALO! has played for packed houses at New York’s famous SOB’s, Ryles Jazz Club and Villa Victoria Center for the Arts, Boston, and the Chicago Folk and Roots Festival. The band frequently performs at venues in South Florida.

Their first CD, “This Is Afro-Cuban Funk”, is now available at gopalo.com and in music stores on iTunes and other digital outlets.
