Pan-scan Ensemble

Pan-Scan Ensemble, a brand-new nonet was assembled by Paal Nulssen-Love and Stale Liavik Solberg to perform at the Oslo Blow Out in December 2016. The group’s performance was captured by Paal Nilssen-Love and Stale Liavik Solberg for a December 2016 Blow Out in Oslo. It’s an excellent example of free improvisation. Nilssen-Love’s talent and creativity have been well-documented, and the blog has highlighted them. With each release, he seems to set new standards. Pan-Scan Ensemble was co-founded by Solberg and Nilssen-Love. They brought together an improvising supergroup: Lotte Annker, Anna Hogberg and Julie Kjaer. This recording is a great way to learn about Pan-Scan Ensemble. Nilssen-Love, Solberg, Sandell are in front. The horns line up behind the drummers. The result is a “wall of sound”, blending the voices into one multiphonic stream, as evidenced by the video links below. From www.freejazzblog.org
