Patchwork Jazz Orchestra

The Patchwork Jazz Orchestra is a London-based, millennial big band. They have no leader but are composed by a group of composers who use the ensemble to create new sounds and ideas. The factory of sound is where the musical dreams of new generations of jazz musicians are realized. The music is a mixture of many influences and characters. It ranges from sweet and luscious melodies to large walls of sound, from drum and bass and funeral marches to fairytale ballads and calypso. It is the 17 musicians who are the musical glue that holds it all together and their passion for improvisation. PJO has reconstructed the tradition of big bands into a machine that embraces modern music-making principles. Many members of the band met in smaller groups and subgroups. They wanted to not only play larger ensemble music but also have the chance to create it. The band was formed in 2014 when ideas began to flow. In November of that year, the 17-piece group performed their debut at the London Jazz Festival. With a debut album in the bag, Patchwork Jazz Orchestra has been captivating the minds of many with their music and performances. They are a unique and exciting group that is helping to advance big band music. from https://patchworkjazzorchestra.com
