Paul Van Gysegem

Paul Van Gysem was born June 6, 1935 in Berlare. He is a Belgian jazz musician and improvisation musician (double bass, composition) and visual artist. Paul Van Gysem studied fine arts first at the Academie van Gent and then at the Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten, Antwerp. His visual works include sculptures, paintings, and graphics. Van Gysem was a film score composer in the 1960s, including for Raoul Servais’Goldframe ‘. In 1971, he directed a sextet with Jasper van’t Hof. Nolle Neels. Patrick De Groote. Pierre Courbois. and Ronald LeCourt. The album Aorta ( Futura ), 1971 was recorded by the group.
