Charlie Parker and Duke Ellington were their first influences. They toured the U.K. as children, performing traditional jazz and swing music. They were born and raised in Washington, D.C., and their mentor was Paul Carr, a native Texas saxophonist. He then guided them to Juilliard in New York City, where he is currently residing. Peter and Will Anderson are the saxophonists chosen by Wynton Marsalis and Jimmy Heath. They also play with Wycliffe Gordon and Michael Feinstein. They have performed with their own band at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola and Iridium, Symphony Space and Blues Alley. In 2010-2013, they produced and performed in three critically acclaimed off-broadway jazz shows at 59E59 Theaters. They were honored by Artie Shaw, Dorsey brothers, and Jazz in France. At 59E59, these shows set attendance and box office records. Will and Peter are featured on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire as well as the Grammy-winning soundtrack featuring Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks. They also frequently perform together. You can hear The Anderson’s Thursday nights at 9pm at the 59E59 Theater’s e:Bar in Manhattan. Their 2013 debut album, Correspondence (Smalls Records), features Kenny Barron. The Music of the Soprano Masters was released by the Anderson’s (Gut String Records) in 2013 featuring Bob Wilber, a legendary saxophonist. from http://peterandwillanderson.com
