Peter Ecklund

Peter Ecklund began his career as an educator, but he then became a full time musician in the 1970s. He played with Gregg Allman and Maria Muldaur and Leon Redbone. He has been a part of David Bromberg’s band since many years. He has also recorded sideman roles on hundreds of albums and films. In the 1980s and 1990s, he was part of Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks as well as the Orphan Newsboys (led Marty Grosz). Peter’s solo albums with Arbors Jazz include “Strings Attached”, and “Gigs.” He is also the author of two books that transcribe jazz solos by Louis Armstrong or Bix Beiderbecke, and two play-along CDs/books of swinging jazz for Music Minus One. His Blue Suitcase Trio blends traditional jazz and other American music.
