Phat Phunktion is a group of University of Wisconsin Madison music students that was formed in 1996. They have a loyal following of fans across the United States as well as around the globe. Phat Phunktion, a nine-piece band that mixes the polished sound of top 40 with the feel of 60’s soul and the raw grooves of 70’s Funk, is one of the most popular bands in the Midwest. Their CDs, which they self-produced, have been sold in the thousands and their live shows are always a sell-out. They have attracted crowds in excess of 5,000 to their Madison, WI home. Rolling Stone Magazine named Phat Phunktion a “band on rise” in 2003. They also won the Wisconsin Area Music Industry Award (WAMI) for “Best R.”
