Philip Clouts

Clouts, the son of Sydney Clouts (South African poet), spent many years in London and built a successful career which included appearances at Ronnie Scott’s and Symphony Hall. He then moved to Dorset, where he added music that reflected the sounds and sights of the area. The album Sennen Cove, which was released in 2010, marked the beginning of this new phase. It received airplay on BBC Radio 3 Jazz FM, UK Jazz Radio and Radio Bremen. The Hour of Pearl was followed by another album in 2013. It received enthusiastic reviews from Jazzwise and The Guardian, and was widely broadcast on radio. This album, named after John Steinbeck, an American author who described the “interval between day and night when the time stops and examines itself”, will be the foundation of the new quartet’s repertoire for this tour. from www.jazzwisemagazine.com
