Piero Bittolo Bon, one of the most highly acclaimed rising stars in Italian Jazz is Piero Bittolo Bon. He is a self-taught musician who plays mainly alto, but can also play baritone, alto clarinet, and flute. Piero also has a long-standing love affair with the electric bass. He played it at the beginning his musical journey in funk and reggae. Before he switched to improvised music and wind intruments, he was also a musician. His music is passionate and lively, whether it’s densely composed or completely improvised. It echoes with the best of fire music, free jazz, torridimprovisations, sharp attacks, and continuous inventions bar after barre. He is a member of El Gallo Rojo Records’ new and highly regarded italian collective/record labels. His current sextet, “Jump The Shark”, features Gerhard Gschloessl and Domenico Caliri playing guitars, Pasquale mirra on vibes, Danilo Gallo and Federico Scettri playing drums. He was recently invited to join the Uri Caine’s “Pulse” project. His latest project, “Original Pigneto Stompers”, features electric bass Jamaaladeen Tacuma and Simone Massaron playing guitars, and Federico Scettri, Massimiliano Andini, on double drums. He performed an recorded with italian artists such as Danilo Gallo, Zeno de Rossi, Beppe Scardino, Enrico Terragnoli, Stefano Senni, Francesco Bigoni, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Tiziano Tononi, Daniele Cavallanti, Francesco Cusa, Domenico Caliri, Giovanni Maier, U.T.
