Damas Piotr Damasiewicz, a composer and trumpeter, was born in Wroclaw. He attended the music academies in Katowice, Bydgoszcz, and Wroclaw. The “Music According to Art” association (MATA), which supports artists who seek alternative solutions in art, was founded by him. The association includes musicians as well as people from fine arts who are open to dialogue. His artwork, “First Exit”, was displayed in the Modern Art Gallery BWA Katowice. This was one of his most significant accomplishments in this field. He experimented with form and space in this dialogue with Stanislaw Drozdz’s “Pojecioksztalty”, “figures that mean” for the project. As a co-author on various multimedia projects, he also collaborated with the artistic circles at Wroclaw’s academy of fine arts and Katowice. His work varies depending on the details of the undertaking. He reaches down to hard bop, mod jazz, and then moves towards free jazz ideas. Then he goes through European classical music to reach the new modern music achievements, which includes the European improvised musical. Damasiewicz will have the opportunity to showcase his work in Damas Ensemble Power of the Horns (jazz band featuring a double rhythm section, at least 5 winds), Damas Quartet Mnemotaksja” and the ones where he collaborates: First Exit and Escape Art Quintet. He is also a member the JazzPlaysEurope musical platform, which promotes composers and musicians from six countries, including France, Belgium Germany, Germany, Slovakia, Slovakia, Poland, Netherlands and Slovakia. Damasiewicz received the 2nd Krzysztof Komeda Competition Prize in the field jazz themes. The Wyborcza magazine named him the Cultural Prize laureate.
