Porky Cohen

Porky Cohen is best-known as the trombonist for Roomful of Blues. In 1996, Porky Cohen recorded his first solo album as a leader. It was a very enjoyable performance for Bullseye Blues and many of his fellow members. Jack Teagarden was his first teacher when he started playing trombone age 13. Cohen began working in local events at age 15, and he took lessons from Miff Mole after graduating high school in 1941. Cohen tried out with Benny Goodman and played with Tony Pastor’s Band, Charlie Barnet, Lucky Millinder Tommy Dorsey, Boyd Raeburn and Artie Shaw (1949-1950) with various Dixieland bands during the 1950s, Bob Wilber
