Randal Despommier

Randal Despommier, a New York-based alto Saxophonist, “blends Paul Desmond’s suavity with Dave Binney’s intensity” (Musically Speaking). Despommier, a New Orleans native, released Dio C’e in February 2021. It was his first solo album. (OffBeat Magazine). A mix of “cross-pollinated Jazz” that ranges from lyrical and transporting originals to imaginative remakes of popular Italian film songs, Despommier’s debut album Dio C’e was released in February 2021. It was also featured on France Musique and Italy’s RAI. According to the Boston Globe, Despommier released All At Onceness in 2018 and toured it with Jason Yeager. They have performed at the Regattabar in Williamsburg, Williamsburg Music Center and Cornelia Street Cafe as well as The Backroom and Qintai Concert Hall, China. Despommier is a passionate educator who focuses on global music. He has directed the music program at Bard High School Early College in Manhattan and also taught jazz history through the Bard College Prison Initiative.
