Ray, who began his career as a professional guitarist when he was 16 years old, recorded his first solo album, Turn Circle at 21. Tina Turner and Gill Evans have been playing guitar for over 40 years. Van Morrison, Art Garfunkel and Dionne Warwick were among the many artists and producers Ray Russell has added something special to their music. Ray Russell is a consummate professional who can play guitar, compose and produce. He has an incredible ability for versatility and virtuosity. Ray is more than a session player. He has also been a front man, guitarist, arranger, composer, friend, and collaborator to many of the most important musicians in the world. Ray bridges the gap between musical genres effortlessly. Ray is able to play every style of guitar imaginable – blues and jazz, rock, fusion or new age, and even combinations thereof. Ray is equally comfortable with both electric and acoustic guitars, as well as guitar synthesisers. Ray’s music has helped to lift many of the most beloved television shows, including “Plain Jane”, which is a period drama; and “Dangerous Lady”, ITV’s flagship detective series “A Touch of Frost”.
