Richard Osborn

Osborn is a “free raga” musician, inspired by classical music from East and West… Exploring the heart with what Dusted magazine described as the “exhilarating feeling of music being discovered as its played.” Richard Osborn was trained and performed with Robbie Basho, the acoustic guitarist trailblazer who along with John Fahey created the entire “American primitive guitar” movement in the 1970’s. Due to severe injuries to his left hand, he disappeared from the public eye. In 2010, he was included on Tompkins Square’s Beyond Berkeley Guitar. He then re-emerged and released his solo debut album Giving Voice: Guitar Explorations in 2012. Giving Voice received a lot of positive reviews and earned Richard the nomination for “Best New Artist of 2012”, Zone Music Reporter. It was also #21 on the Top 100 Albums of 2012 under the category of worldfusion/new-age/ambient music (ZMR). Now one of the premier exponents of the “free raga style” of playing first pioneered by Basho, he invites you to share this journey of exploring the heart with what Dusted magazine called the “exhilarating sense of music being discovered as it is played.” from www.richardosbornguitar.com
